HOLI 2014 EyeMakeup LooK

Sunday, February 23, 2014 ,

Hi!  My Dear Readers J

Holi is around the corner (any approaching festival gets me really excited) and I was thinking of putting together a special makeup look for the Day.  While thinking of the interplay of colors that I would be using to get that look, the word Holi suddenly got me thinking of an Eyeshadow palette that I bought a few years ago around Holi time. Immediately I digged into my eyeshadow drawer and found the bright red bejewelled palatte lying oh so silently in one corner. (Oh! Big sigh of Relief!)

This Eyeshadow palette was a limited edition palette which was part of the 2008 H0LIDAY COLLECTION from Mac Cosmetics. Mac releases its HOLIDAY COLLECTION every year during Christmas Time (Holiday season) and this collection is to watch out for. It has some really unique colors and packaging ideas.

I had totally forgot about this palette and decided that since there were a few more days for Holi to come, I`d rather do a makeup look using colors from this palette and show it some respect. (All my makeup items are very much loved and respected by me since they have the power to make me look and feel like a princess!)

ALL ABOUT THE PALETTE:

Its called “INTRIGUING SCARLET: 6 WARM EYES” and this is how it looks like :

A red metallic compact with six pans of shadow and a 213SE (Special Edition) Eyeshadow Brush. A full size mirror under the lid. The only inconvenient about the packaging is that the lid is loose when it opens up, so i cannot hold the case looking at the mirror and do my make up when I`m on the move.

It mainly has warmer shades which varied finishes. The shades included in this palette are named as:

·         Sweet Joy (Frost) - Frosted pale cream

·         Warm Suede (Veluxe Pearl) - Frosty antique bronzy golden olive

·         Well Spiced (Satin) - “Frosted warm peachy caramel brown” - looks more orange in the pan than on the skin

·         Gentle Heat (Satin) - Light muted grey taupe a very slight greyish cast, more matte than satin

·         Real Drama (Satin) - Dirty burgundy  plum-wine with slight red pearl

·         Grand Entrance (Satin) - Dirty deep dark green with very slight green pearl

The colors in this palette look much better on the skin than just looking at them in the palette :) I would definitely recommend this to anyone who usually does brown smokey eyes and neutral looks. It was a limited edition palette but MAC comes out with similar warm eye palettes every now and then so definitely keep an eye for those if you are into neutral looks.

WHAT I DID TO ACHIEVE THIS LOOK :

To achieve this eye look I used an interplay of all the 6 colors in this palette

Needless to say I started with a base first. Using an eyeshadow base helps bring out the true identity of the eyeshadow colors. It makes the shadow stay on longer and remain brighter. It also helps in disguising any redness of the eyelids and any veins that can be seen through.  I used the Oriflame Duo Liquid Concealer as the base.

Then I applied the Sweet Joy in the inner corner and dragged it till the center part of my upper eyelid.

Then I took Well Spiced in the crease and outer-V of my eye.

Then I APPLIED Warm Suede all over my lid with a light hand.

Then I took a mixture of both the darker colors and placed them in the outer corner of my eye and blended it there.

Then applied the dark eyeshadow mixture  to the lower lashline starting from outer corner and stopping halfway through.

After curling my eyelashes I Applied two coats of maybelline colossal mascara.

I think this look is great to wear with various colored outfits, especially our Indian sarees and Salwar- kurtas and the Kurtis . U can use any brand eyeshadow to achive a similar look but ofcourse the shades should be somewhat similar to the ones in this palatte.
